Distance Learning

What is Distance Learning?

Distance Learning is any learning that takes place at locations separate from the point of instruction. Unlike distance education, distance learning does not imply that there is an instructor at the other end. As the term learning indicates, distance learning may not include prepared instructional materials at all. Surfing the web to learn about training is itself a form of distance learning. Distance education involves a more systematic approach and is often tied specifically to academic programs delivered to learners at a distance. To make it clearer, think of the difference between learning and teaching. Be aware that when you read about distance learning, the definitions will differ. Many people use the term synonymously with distance education.
