What is Distance Education? |

Distance Education is any learning that takes place at locations separate from the point of instruction. Unlike distance education, Distance Education does not imply that there is an instructor at the other end. As the term education indicates, Distance Education may not include prepared instructional materials at all. Surfing the web to learn about training is itself a form of Distance Education. Distance education involves a more systematic approach and is often tied specifically to academic programs delivered to learners at a distance. To make it clearer, think of the difference between education and training. Be aware that when you read about Distance Education, the definitions will differ. Many people use the term synonymously with distance education. |
